Job Mission

ASML is the world’s leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry, manufacturing complex machines that are critical to the production of integrated circuits or microchips. This position is for a First Line Support Production Engineer to work in the Production Engineering department in Wilton Factory, CT. The candidate will work with cross‑sector employees and teams to provide rapid responses to resolve engineering disturbance notices related to production and will perform engineering steps listed in the production operator dashboard (POD) to support output.

Shift

Back End Nights 6 pm – 6 am (Thursday night, Friday, Saturday, alternate Wednesday nights)

Job Description
  • Work hands‑on with expert opticians and technicians to troubleshoot and document interruptions on the production floor.
  • Develop and implement short‑term containment and structural solutions for production issues.
  • Escalate structural process or procedural issues to the Competency Production Engineering team and act as a consultant for solution space.
  • Use cleaning solvents safely, per EHS guidelines, to troubleshoot and remove product contamination.
  • Evaluate, disposition, and manage failed parts and determine the path of rework.
  • Perform hand‑on work required in the assigned work center.
  • Present daily reports to support quality improvement efforts.
  • Support development of manufacturing procedures and technical work instructions as required.
  • Generate a detailed report in the absence of a Process Engineer after machine failure.
  • Acquire additional skills as opportunities arise to increase efficiency in the assigned work center.
  • Support root cause and cycle time analysis as needed.
  • Read and understand mechanical, electrical, and optical drawings.
  • Provide occasional off hours and weekend coverage.
  • Occasionally work in a cleanroom environment to support production processes and leading troubleshooting actions:
    • Full gowning (full body coveralls, hood, CR safety shoes, face mask, nitrile gloves, and safety glasses) while working under ISO 9000/14000 standards.
    • Operate around overhead cranes, forklift trucks, and motorized pallet movers.
    • Operate with or around lasers, ladders, platforms, and chemicals.
Education & Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering discipline with prior internship experience in production or manufacturing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in physics or material science considered.
Additional Skills & Work Experience
  • 0–1 year of work experience in a high‑tech production or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven record of strong problem‑solving skill.
  • Experience in optical fabrication/assembly (dry/wet etch, optical polishing, litho process, optical contacting, etc.) is a plus.
  • Cleanroom experience operating in manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of statistical process control and PFMEA is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Teamcenter, SAP, and related software is a plus.
  • Understanding of optical tolerancing and specification is a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot optical surfaces against defined Scratch‑Dig specs is a plus.

  • Possess strong ownership characteristics – demonstrated commitment to achieving results on time.
