Nurse Manager-Surgical Services

The Nurse Manager of Surgical Services oversees and directs operations within the surgical unit, ensuring high-quality patient care aligned with institutional goals. This role includes leadership responsibilities such as staff development, performance evaluation, and fostering service excellence. The position requires a registered nurse with operating room experience and strong management and interpersonal skills.

Responsible for directing and organizing unit/service operations to ensure patient care is delivered in a manner consistent with the philosophy/goals of the institution. The NM has 24-hour responsibility and accountability for the satisfaction of patients, physicians, and staff while demonstrating sound fiscal management.

• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BSN (anyone appointed after, Masters preferred.
• Experience: 3 to 5 years leadership experience.
• Licensure: Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. All newly hired Registered Nurses must have a current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire.

  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, Good analytical ability to interpret data. Demonstrated ability to implement and support change. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities. Evidence of successful completion of courses on an annual basis.
• Physical Demand: Requires prolonged standing; walking; use of sight, hearing and touch; moving/lifting patients of varying weights.
• Additional Information: This position will lead the Main Operating Room, PACU and Urology. A minimum of 3 years of Operating Room RN experience required. Leadership experience in an OR Setting required.
