As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer
, you will drive process quality and product reliability within the Optics. This role focuses on improving inspection methods, reducing defects, and ensuring consistent execution of quality standards across manufacturing operations.
You will work closely with Production, Metrology, and Engineering teams to analyze data, resolve quality issues, and implement sustainable process improvements.
Key Responsibilities Process Quality & Improvement- Analyze manufacturing and inspection data to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCA/CAPA) for defects and nonconformances
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, defect reduction, and process stability
- Support development and optimization of inspection methods and quality controls
- Develop, update, and standardize work instructions and inspection criteria
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, procedures, and documentation requirements
- Support internal and external audits to ensure readiness and conformance
- Promote consistency in defect evaluation and inspection practices across teams
- Partner with Production, Metrology, and Engineering to resolve quality issues and improve workflows
- Support Measurement System Analysis (MSA, GRR) and ensure inspection equipment accuracy and calibration
- Act as a key interface between manufacturing and engineering for quality-related topics
- Monitor and report key quality KPIs (yield, FPY, defects, escapes)
- Leverage data to drive actionable insights and influence operational decisions
- Validate effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure improvements are sustained
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience: 4 years of experience in manufacturing quality)
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, preferably in precision or optical fabrication environments
- Experience with quality tools such as RCA, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and CAPA
- Familiarity with ISO
9001/ISO
14001 standards - Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and data analysis tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to interpret complex data and translate into actionable improvements
- Effective communicator across technical and operational teams
- Strong ownership and accountability in driving issues to resolution
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment
