Overview

ASML’s Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) Department is integral to the industrialization and optimization of the ASML supply chain ecosystem. The Department Manager leads a team of 50–100 FTEs who work closely with suppliers, internal product generation teams, and Module Delivery Units (MDUs) to deliver predictable results and achieve optimal quality, cost, and lead‑time performance.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the SQE organization to deliver results across technology domains.
  • Deliver industrialization readiness for New Product Introductions (NPI) from early supplier involvement through release to volume.
  • Improve supplier quality performance and reduce the cost of poor quality through structured problem‑solving and prevention.
  • Ensure strong governance, compliance, and high quality of SQE deliverables, documentation, and audits across the supplier base.
  • Build and maintain domain expertise and external/internal networks for effective technical interfacing with suppliers, D&E, and MDUs.
  • Execute cross‑functional alignment with Supply Chain & Quality, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, and Supplier Account Teams to drive supplier performance and prioritization.
  • Contribute to category strategy and supplier relationship management, translating technology and quality risks into sourcing and development priorities.
  • Standardize and continuously improve ways of working across SQE technology domains and global ASML sites to increase scalability and consistency.
  • Early supplier involvement: participate in MDUs during early design phases to secure manufacturability and technology availability from suppliers.
  • New Product Introduction support: execute risk mitigation plans (e.g., Manufacturing Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, Specification agreement) and support suppliers with qualification, measurement, and manufacturing issues, ensuring a smooth transfer to Quality Supplier Managers for volume release.
  • Supplier development: challenge suppliers on process efficiency and capability, using Six Sigma tools; identify non‑conformities through First Article Inspections and drive improvement plans.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience, including 5 years of managing direct reports.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Experience with quality management tools (DMAIC, FMEA, SPC, MSA, 5xWhy, 8D).
  • Management experience within a technical, high‑tech environment.
  • Understanding of industrialization processes and proven track record in driving them.
  • Preferable (Lean) Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification.
  • Ability to balance stakeholders in a complex, multi‑disciplinary environment.
Skills
  • Drive and enthusiasm to achieve tangible results.
  • Strong communication, team‑building, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Influencing ability without direct authority.
  • Situational adaptability and process‑minded approach.
  • Willingness for occasional foreign travel to suppliers.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to satisfaction through prioritization, quality, efficiency, and professionalism.
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Proven ability to perform in a demanding environment with changing workloads.
  • Ownership, accountability, and independent or team work with minimal supervision.
  • Professional, open, clear, and concise communication.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Potential exposure to strong magnetic fields, high voltage, and currents.
  • Position requires access to controlled technology as defined by U.S. Export Administration Regulations; candidates must be legally authorized to access such technology before starting work.
