Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Master’s Preferred, SEI Endorsement
  • DESE License for moderate/severe special needs (5‑12 or PreK‑12)
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Special Education regulations
  • Familiarity with diverse disabilities
  • Ability and experience in conducting formal evaluations, developing IEPs and transition plans
  • Strong data collection skills
  • Experience with supervision of staff and coordination of services
  • Supervise and coordinate inclusion opportunities
  • Ability to provide functional academic instruction, social skills, life skills and vocational training
  • Effective communication with students, families and colleagues
  • Belief in a structured school environment that promotes a positive school culture
Responsibilities
  • Maintain data collection procedures, graphing, progress reports, materials and visual supports (academic, social, daily living, behavioral); embed social skills and provide supports for students.
  • Provide specialized academic instruction and learning for students with IEPs and moderate to severe disabilities; oversee support services; direct paraprofessionals.
  • Meet state regulations and manage all aspects of special education compliance for assigned caseload.
  • Provide direction and oversight to classroom paraprofessionals regarding daily schedules, behavior plan implementation, data collection, material development, and academic modifications/individualized IEP objective ABA programming.
  • Consult and collaborate with related service providers and attend consultation meetings as indicated in students’ IEPs.
  • Ensure individual programs align with IEPs and Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Track and monitor student progress using academic, functional, and behavior data, including for the Massachusetts Alternative Assessment Portfolio when applicable.
  • Provide progress notes for students during each marking period.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations as needed.
  • Manage challenging students, including aggression or inappropriate behaviors.
  • Use instruction and de‑escalation techniques, including physical interventions when necessary.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality of student information.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Principal, Director of Pupil Services or other administrator.
Salary Range

$55,730 - $100,313
