Title:

Family Resource and Youth Services Center Coordinator

Reports To: School Principal, Administrative Director of Student Accounting, Support Services and Administration

Basic Function: To establish and maintain an atmosphere of collaboration among the existing school and community resources, and to organize and implement programs and services that support the Family Resource and Youth Services Center core components and that meet the needs of students and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Complies with all required mandates concerning the Family Resource and Youth Services Centers including program evaluation, budgeting, required reports, and information dissemination.
  • Is responsible for the implementation of day and evening programs/activities to address student, family, school, and community needs.
  • Monitors programs/activities for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Revises programs/activities based on the degree to which identified needs are being met.
  • Collaborates with appropriate agencies to provide services for students, parents, families, the school, and the community.
  • Maintains communications with SBDM committees, local Advisory Council, local Board of Education and the community.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates yearly action components for the Family Resource and/or Youth Services Center grant.
  • Supervises, evaluates, and provides appropriate training for center staff.
  • Makes home visits as needed.
  • Ensures legal and ethical standards are maintained to safeguard the privacy, rights, and dignity of individuals and families served by the center.
  • Maintains and protects Family Resource and/or Youth Services Center records in accordance with federal and state laws.
  • Develops and maintains program budgets in a timely manner based on the Munis system.
  • Establishes and conducts community and school surveys to assess needs.
  • Conducts center program evaluations as needed.
  • Informs and seeks input from local Advisory Council according to mandates, policies and procedures.
  • Participates in necessary and mandatory trainings, and in district, regional, and state meetings.
  • Assists in developing additional community resources to help assure the growth and development of children.
  • Seeks additional funds/materials through grants and/or gifts.
  • Complies with all regulations and procedures of local district.
  • Performs other duties for the center as directed by the superintendent or designee.
  • Provides positive leadership for center staff.
  • Creates an inviting environment for staff, students, community, and families.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge Of: Grant writing, written communications, budgeting, planning, oral communications, collaboration and working with others, community and resources, technology, health and safety regulations, district organization, policies and objectives, correct English usage, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary, correct office practices, procedures and equipment, basic arithmetic, record keeping skills, interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
  • Ability To: Lead and supervise staff, seek resources (financial and human), maintain consistently friendly manner, operate a variety of standard office equipment, maintain records and files according to policies and procedures, understand oral and written directions, work independently with little direction, meet schedules and timelines, train and provide working directions to others, effectively communicate orally and in writing, effectively facilitate meetings for clients and families, change and learn.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds.

Current FRYSC Coordinators hired for the  school year that do not hold a bachelor’s degree will be grandfathered and will be considered eligible to serve as FRYSC Coordinators without a bachelor’s degree. They shall be eligible to apply for any FRYSC Coordinator positions that become available during (or throughout) their continuous employment with Clark County Public Schools and will not be limited to applying only for the FRYSC Coordinator positions that become available as a result of closing and merging of schools.)
