PositionTransportation Engineering Technologist III, located at 1055 Early Dr, Winchester, KY 40391, USA.
Responsibilities- Overseeing contractor operations on major and complex transportation projects
- Inspections and working with the public

Education
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, computer science, data science, geology, earth science, industrial technology, industrial drafting, design technology or construction technology. OR Graduate with an associate's degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program.
Experience, Training, or
Skills:
Four years of engineering-related experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for
EXPERIENCE:
1. Possess a valid EIT certification issued by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
OR
2. Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR an associate degree in an engineering field
OR
3. High school
OR
4. High school
Substitute EXPERIENCE for
EDUCATION:
1. Must have four years of engineering-related experience with the first education option above; OR
2. Must have seven years of engineering-related experience with the second education option above; OR
3. Must have ten years of engineering-related experience in which case related technical or vocational training will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years with the third education option above; OR
4. Must have eight years of bridge inspection experience under the supervision of a Qualified Inspection Team Leader, plus successful completion of a Federal Highway Administration approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course with the fourth education option above.

Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possess and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites and other types of work zones which require following of safety procedures. Additional position information: travel required, standing, stooping, bending, lifting, sitting at a desk, etc.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
