Position: Tankie II in Winchester, KY (FCAW & Fitting) #3129

Graywolf is seeking experienced Tank Welders (Tankie II - FCAW Welder & Tank Fitter) in Winchester, KY. Per Diem eligible greater than 60 miles, schedule is 5-10 hours with occasional Saturdays. Project length is 3 months.

Graywolf is a heavy industrial/commercial construction contractor that provides end‑to‑end solutions from design, fabrication, construction, and facility management nationwide.

Summary

The Tank Welder is responsible for performing welding and grinding functions per job specifications, selecting equipment, and planning layout and assembly of welding. Works closely with supervision and operates within precise limits and accuracy standards.

Essential Duties
  • Assemble and fit materials to drawing dimensions of structural, plate, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Produce quality welds and perform fitter tasks using various positions and metallurgy.
  • Assist with fit‑up, preparation, and cleanup of welds.
  • Assist with post‑weld cleanup, inspection, and repair.
  • Communicate regularly with the Field Foreman regarding issues and concerns.
  • Perform all other job‑related duties as requested by supervision.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of FCAW tank welding/fitting experience.
  • Effective communication with employees and customers.
  • Pass required FCAW weld testing (2G horizontal, 3G vertical uphill, 4G overhead on carbon steel plate without backing) as determined by CWI/Quality Assurance.
  • Complete all required pre‑hire requirements.
Physical/Site Requirements
  • Lift and carry up to 45 pounds.
  • Move in confined, cluttered, or uneven areas with full range of motion.
  • Work up to a 12‑hour shift in varying temperature extremes.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Use PPE: footwear, prescription safety glasses or eye shields; soft welding hoods are not permitted.
