Children's Own School is a private, non‑profit Montessori school that has proudly served Winchester and the surrounding communities since 1942. Our school features five spacious, sun‑filled classrooms, experienced and fully trained teachers, and expansive outdoor playgrounds. We are committed to the authentic implementation of the Montessori philosophy and work collaboratively to support each child’s unique learning journey.
We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our supportive and collaborative Primary Program (ages 3–6). The successful candidate will work closely with the lead teacher to help maintain a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate Montessori environment for young children. This is a full‑time, 10‑month position beginning August 24
.

Qualifications- Montessori Early Childhood Credential (AMS, AMI, or MACTE‑accredited) preferred, not required
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred
- Massachusetts EEC certification preferred
- 1–3 years of experience working with preschool‑aged children
- Interest in and familiarity with Montessori philosophy and practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Genuine love of and respect for children
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and equitable learning community
- Maintain a beautiful, organized, and engaging classroom environment, including regularly rotating, updating, and repairing Montessori materials.
- Model grace and courtesy, fostering a respectful, peaceful, and inclusive classroom community.
- Supervise children at all times to ensure a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment.
- Collaborate closely with the Lead Teacher, maintaining open and effective communication regarding classroom responsibilities and student needs.
- Serve as a supportive team member by assisting colleagues and helping to maintain organized and welcoming shared spaces throughout the school.
- Partner with the Lead Teacher during Parent–Teacher Conferences to provide a comprehensive and holistic understanding of each child's development and progress.
- Participate actively in weekly staff meetings and professional discussions.
- Set annual professional goals and engage in ongoing professional growth and development.
- Practice regular self‑reflection and engage in the preparation of self, recognizing the impact of the adult's mindset, behavior, and presence on the classroom environment.
- Maintain all required certifications and credentials, including EEC, CPR, and First Aid certification, as applicable.
