PACU RN – Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas, Tennessee

• Job Type: Full-time
• Sign‑On Bonus: $10,000 available to qualified applicants
• Schedule:
  
  7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., weekend on‑call every 5th weekend

• Performs comprehensive patient assessments pre‑ and post‑operatively, including airway, cardiovascular, neurological, and pain assessments.
• Monitors and documents patient vital signs, level of consciousness, pain, and surgical site condition.
• Administers medications, IV fluids, and treatments safely and in accordance with physician orders and hospital policy.
• Recognizes, reports, and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition, including post‑anesthesia complications.
• Provides patient and family education related to post‑operative care, pain management, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborates with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintains accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the medical record.
• Adheres to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards, including patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Participates in performance improvement activities, staff education, and unit‑based initiatives as assigned.
• Supports departmental workflow and staffing needs, including assisting in other perioperative areas as appropriate.

• Licensure:
  Current Tennessee or compact state RN license; must provide proper Tennessee paperwork within 30 days of hire.
• Education:
  
  Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school required; BSN preferred.
• Certifications:
  
  AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire; ACLS and PALS required within one year of hire.
• Experience:
  
  One year previous experience preferred.
• Skills:
  
  Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
