Registered Nurse (RN) Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Job Type: Full-Time $10,000 Sign-On Bonus available to well qualified applicants

Schedule:

7a-5:30p; weekend requirements on call every 5th weekend Your experience matters

How you'll contribute

A PACU RN who excels in this role:

  • Performs comprehensive patient assessments pre- and post-operatively, including airway, cardiovascular, neurological, and pain assessments.
  • Monitors and documents patient vital signs, level of consciousness, pain, and surgical site condition.
  • Administers medications, IV fluids, and treatments safely and in accordance with physician orders and hospital policy.
  • Recognizes, reports, and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition, including post-anesthesia complications.
  • Provides patient and family education related to post-operative care, pain management, and discharge instructions.
  • Collaborates with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the medical record.
  • Adheres to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards, including patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities, staff education, and unit-based initiatives as assigned.
  • Supports departmental workflow and staffing needs, including assisting in other perioperative areas as appropriate.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Tennessee or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Certifications:

    AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire. ACLS and PALS required within one year of hire.

  • Required Skills:

    Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Experience:

    One-year previous experience preferred.

  • Licenses:
    Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.

  • Education:

    Associate's degree required. BSN preferred.
