Nicholas Howard Limitedare delighted to be recruiting for a new and exciting role as a Microbiologist.

Based in Winchester, responsibilities will include but not be limited to: –

Baseline Monitoring:

• Working to existing protocol, take samples throughout the facility, prepare and incubate isolates.
• Train a small team in sample collecting, incubation, basic morphology, and gram staining.
• Carry out morphology tests and identification and subsequent gram staining.
• Carry out preparation of pure samples for external speciation.
• Assist with writing the final report, likely taking the lion’s share of the work as the client is not experienced in the appropriate contents required.
• Prepare and incubate as required pure cultures from those purchased, standard compendials.
• Prepare and incubate as required any specific cultures (as yet not speciated due to time constraints) that appear in the baseline monitoring and are not covered by the compendial isolates.
• Carry out the coupon testing against three disinfectants including all dilutions etc. A protocol exists.
• Revisit parts of the exercise if failures occur.
• Write the final report.
• In Operation / At Rest Monitoring:
• As part of the cleaning validation and ongoing.
• Check the SOP for active air sampling, use of machine and post-processing.
• Incubate and isolate samples as with the baseline monitoring.
• Growth Promotion Testing of any Batches of Agar Plates:
• Preparation of pure cultures or use existing (from Biomerieux Bioballs) to test plates and any broths. Protocol exists.
