A well-established and highly regarded specialist school in Shawford is seeking to appoint an experienced and dedicated Primary SEN Teacher to join its committed and supportive team. The school provides high-quality, tailored education for primary‑aged pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties, complex needs, and autism spectrum conditions.

The setting offers a structured, nurturing environment designed to promote each pupil’s academic progress, communication development, independence, and emotional wellbeing. Classes are small, allowing for personalised teaching and meaningful engagement. Staff work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary framework, alongside therapists and support professionals, to ensure pupils receive holistic and consistent support throughout their educational journey.

The Role
  • Plan and deliver differentiated, creative, and engaging lessons aligned to individual education plans
  • Use a range of communication strategies, including visual supports and structured approaches, to meet pupils’ needs
  • Lead, direct, and work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants within the classroom
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting provision where necessary
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that supports regulation and emotional development
  • Work closely with families and external professionals to ensure a consistent and child‑centred approach
Candidate Profile
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience teaching pupils with additional needs, particularly autism and complex learning difficulties
  • Strong classroom leadership and behaviour management skills
  • A calm, resilient, and reflective approach to teaching
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and high expectations for all learners

This role would suit a confident practitioner who is passionate about specialist education and committed to making a lasting difference to pupils with complex needs.

What the School Offers
  • A collaborative and highly supportive staff team
  • Access to ongoing professional development and specialist SEND training
  • Clear leadership structures and strong pastoral support
  • Well‑resourced classrooms and tailored learning environments
  • A potential pathway to permanent employment for the right candidate
Safeguarding

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants must hold an Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) registered on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one prior to commencement.

Experienced teachers who are committed to high‑quality specialist education are strongly encouraged to apply.

Please submit your up‑to‑date CV to be considered for this opportunity.
