Winchester Public Schools, Virginia – John Kerr Elementary School – Winchester, Virginia.

The Early Childhood Special Education Teaching Assistant serves as an instructional assistant to assigned classrooms or service locations under the direction of the program administration and the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. The assistant supports the daily instructional, behavioral, social/emotional, and adaptive/functional needs of preschool‑aged students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and program requirements.

• Work directly with students to facilitate instructional programming in a variety of settings.
• Support behavioral, social/emotional, and adaptive/functional needs of students.
• Collaborate with Early Childhood Special Education and school staff to meet the needs of qualifying students and program‑specific goals.
• Participate in meetings, professional development, and family engagement activities that support program operations.
• Abide by State statutes, School Board policies and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent and one of the following: (a) Completed at least two years (48 credit hours) of study at a higher‑education institution; (b) Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or (c) Passed the Parapro Assessment through ETS.
• Proof of highly qualified certification must be attached to the application.

Range for : $19.00 to $29.26 per hour plus a full benefits package. Salary may be adjusted based on the  School Board budget.

Full time – 10 month (183 days) position, 7 hours per day.
