Position: Instructional Technology Coach (SBO)

Job Description

Summary: The Instructional Technology Coach is a site-based professional developer who works collaboratively with teachers to provide professional learning experiences that support the effective integration of technology. Drawing on an expertise in educational technology and the peer coaching relationship, the coach builds teacher capacity to implement rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for all students. The coach serves as a critical liaison between the school and technical services to ensure a seamless digital learning environment.

Qualifications
  • Licensure: Hold a valid Virginia teaching license.
  • Experience: Successfully completed a minimum of three years of full-time teaching in a K-12 school setting.
  • Skills: Demonstrates expertise in educational technology integration; effective oral, written, and digital communication; and strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Demonstrates an understanding of instructional leadership and the peer coaching model.
Performance and Responsibilities

The ITC’s work is organized into four core domains to align school-based support with division-level priorities:

1. Classroom-Level Support
  • Coaching Cycles: Conduct regular coaching cycles aligned to the Impact Cycle, partnering with teachers to set goals, engage in co‑teaching or observation, and reflect on instructional impact.
  • Modeling and Mentoring: Model effective instructional strategies through targeted professional learning and coaching to promote student engagement and knowledge construction. Actively mentor teachers in employing evidence‑based technology strategies that meet diverse learner needs.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with instructional leadership to develop, deliver and evaluate instructional technology professional learning events to individual, small groups, or large groups of staff during the school day and/or beyond regular school hours.
  • Learning Walks: Conduct technology integration cycles to collect student‑focused data for reflection and collaboration with teachers.
  • Digital Citizenship: Model and promote the effective integration of digital citizenship and computer science within classroom lessons.
  • Technical Support: Provide direct assistance and training to teachers on specific hardware and software applications used in their instructional setting.
2. Data & Assessment
  • Trend Analysis: Interpret multiple sources of educational data—including assessment results, student feedback, and observations—to help teachers adjust instruction to better meet student needs.
  • Action Planning: Assist teachers in using technology to differentiate instruction and provide rigorous, relevant digital learning experiences based on data‑driven needs.
  • PEERS Goals: Partner with teachers to develop PEERS goals (Powerful, Easy, Emotionally compelling, Reachable, and Student‑focused) and analyze evidence to monitor progress and improve student outcomes.
3. Professional Learning & Leadership
  • PD Design and Delivery: Assess staff needs and design/conduct professional learning opportunities that equip teachers with the skills to implement technology‑driven strategies effectively.
  • PLC/CLT Leadership: Participate in Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) and Collaborative Learning Teams (CLTs) using a gradual release model to support collaborative lesson design and curriculum alignment.
  • Curriculum Alignment: Support teachers in ensuring classroom instruction is vertically and horizontally aligned with state standards and district priorities while integrating high‑impact technology.
  • Professional Growth: Engage in continual goal setting and professional growth activities that include but are not limited to regular and active participation in a technology focused learning network that supports knowledge, skills and dispositions in content, pedagogical and technological knowledge and skills.
4. Division‑Level Work
  • Initiative Support: Facilitate the implementation of division-level initiatives and content‑based programs at the school level in collaboration with Content Area Coordinators.
