Elementary Instructional Assistant Internship; SBO

Work-Based Learning Training Plan Support

Provide support for the classroom teacher and building outlined in the Work-Based Learning training plan.

Qualifications

• Previous field experience through completion of one or all of the following courses at the High School:
  Introduction to Teaching, Teachers for Tomorrow and Early Childhood Education courses.
• Have passed the Parapro Assessment, or scheduled to take this assessment prior to the internship start date.
• Basic reading, writing, and computation skills; good written and oral communication skills; basic computer skills preferred.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate well in a team environment.
• Ability to relate and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of school procedures and policies.

Essential Duties

• Provide instructional assistance as planned or coordinated by the teacher or administrator.
• Work closely with teacher(s) or other professionals to create a quality instructional environment.
• Assist the teacher(s) in preparing materials, teaching aids, bulletin boards and equipment for direct instructional activities.
• Other duties may be assigned through the immediate supervisor.

Placements

Elementary Instructional Assistant Interns will be primarily based at one of the elementary buildings within FCPS. Interns will attend 1-2 weeks of rotation within the NREP Early Childhood Education program during the internship, to consist of the same above duties.

Pay Rate

The rates for FY26: 1st year - $15.00 2nd year - $15.25 3rd year - $15.50
