Job DescriptionSummary:
Supervise and monitor students assigned to the In-School Restriction Program.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Applicant should have knowledge of school and classroom rules, procedures and practices.
- Applicant must have the ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules, methods and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment.
- Applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and patience.
- Applicant must have experience working with students and knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is strongly encouraged.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision for students who are assigned to the In-School Suspension classroom.
- Take daily attendance.
- Review in-school suspension policies, procedures, and student expectations with students daily.
- Work with students and or other staff members during the student reflection period on issues such as behavior management and preventing undesirable behaviors that resulted in a student being assigned to ISR.
- Monitor all ISR assignments; provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests, and computer work, and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
- Ensure students have security escorts to lavatory facilities.
- Complete student Work Completion Logs for all students assigned to the room and communicate with parents regarding productivity.
- Facilitate and arrange delivery of student lunches when necessary.
- Refer behavior problems to Assistant Principals.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the requirements for a Title I paraprofessional, including:
Must have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent and
Must have met
one
of the following options:
- Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education;
or - Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree;
or - Met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness). Winchester Public Schools requires the state assessment to meet this requirement if one of the first two options cannot be documented
Salary:
Range for is $17.51 to 26.97 per hour plus full benefits package.
Workday:
Full time/10 month (183 days) position, 7.0 hours per day
