Position: R&D Engineer I

Responsibilities
  • Put safety first – Always!

  • Create/ensure/promote a safe and environmentally responsible work environment
  • Conduct safe execution of pilot and/or plant trials and testing
  • Design, develop, and improve Trex products, processes, and/or raw materials
  • Set‑up experimental design, develop required operating parameters for material and equipment based on observed data and best practices
  • Understand raw material and/or product testing techniques, data acquisition, and data analysis
  • Develop all required product, process, and/or raw material documentation
  • Communicate and consult with outside technical resources
  • Communicate project status as needed across all departments and levels of the organization as required
  • Generate project ideas to improve Trex costs, profitability, market share, and/or product offering
  • Participate in additional duties as required by leadership

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and 0 to 5 years of experience in thermoplastic processing, chemical manufacturing, or mechanical maintenance.

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience in manufacturing or research experience in polymerization processes or product design.
  • Experience in thermoplastic processing, chemical manufacturing, or mechanical maintenance.
  • Experience in Six Sigma a plus.

SALARY

Base Salary Range: $71,000 - $100,000 annually. The salary range provided serves as a general guideline for potential compensation for this position. It reflects the base salary and does not account for other benefits or additional compensation opportunities that may apply. This role is also eligible for further compensation through an annual/sales bonus, in addition to the base salary.

At Trex, individual base salaries are determined based on various factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. We are committed to maintaining pay equity and consider the internal equity of our existing team members when finalizing compensation offers.
