Responsibilities
- Manage the department’s accreditation process to ensure compliance with all applicable standards.
- Maintain accreditation files and documentation in accordance with Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) requirements.
- Conduct regular policy reviews and assist in revising General Orders to reflect current laws, best practices, and accreditation standards.
- Develop, write, edit, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and forms.
- Identify and correct compliance deficiencies through policy updates and training recommendations.
- Serve as liaison with accreditation staff, assessors, and partner agencies.
- Conduct internal audits and assessments to evaluate compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate on-site mock assessments and accreditation reviews.
- Attend professional meetings, trainings, and accreditation-related events.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, government agencies, and the public.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in:
- Criminal Justice
- Public Administration
- Business Administration
- or a related field
Experience with accreditation processes or policy management is strongly preferred.
Certifications- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of law enforcement accreditation standards and practices.
- Strong writing, editing, and policy development skills.
- Ability to research, analyze, and interpret laws, regulations, and standards.
- Proficiency with office software and computer systems.
- Ability to manage complex projects with attention to detail.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Primarily office-based position.
- Light physical activity may be required (lifting up to 25 pounds).
- Work conducted indoors under controlled conditions.
