Position SummaryThe Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) oversees all aspects of pharmacy operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care while maintaining full compliance with state and federal regulations. This role is responsible for operational excellence, patient safety, staff leadership, and adherence to industry standards for home infusion therapies.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Ensure adherence to regulations, guidelines, and best practices related to home infusion therapies.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including proper storage, handling, and disposal of medications and supplies.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and audit readiness to ensure compliance and quality standards.
- Oversee all aspects of sterile compounding operations, including formulation, preparation, packaging, and labeling of medications.
- Oversee the preparation and dispensing of medications, ensuring accuracy, safety, and quality of care.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to customize and optimize medication regimens for patients receiving home infusion therapies.
- Provide medication therapy management, patient counseling, and education related to home infusion treatments.
- Lead, train, and mentor pharmacy staff to promote a cohesive and efficient team environment.
- Foster continuous learning and professional development, keeping staff informed of advances in home infusion therapies and technologies.
- Address staff concerns, conflicts, and performance issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to support seamless operations and quality patient care.
- Represent the pharmacy in professional and industry forums, contributing to knowledge-sharing and peer networking within the home infusion field.
- Active Pharmacist license in the state of Virginia.
- Ideally experience in home infusion pharmacy (5+ years preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of USP and USP standards for sterile compounding.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing pharmacy staff and operations.
- In-depth understanding of state and federal pharmacy regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and manage time in a fast-paced environment.
