** Job Description
** The Certified Hyperbaric Chamber Technician operates and maintains hyperbaric chambers under provider supervision, ensuring safe and effective use through daily inspections and care. When not in the chamber, supports the outpatient Wound Care Center to assist with patient flow, scheduling, and wound care, including advanced modalities as appropriate. The technician works under the direct supervision of a provider.
Responsibilities and Duties Patient Care:
Prepare patients for treatment, reinforce hyperbaric therapy education, perform vitals, blood sugar checks, non-invasive treatments, and transcutaneous oximetry (with certification).Clinical Operations:
Operate and maintain hyperbaric chambers, follow provider-directed procedures, and support wound care as needed.

Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate patient records, collect/report data, comply with facility policies, and support accreditation and quality assurance programs.

Safety & Environment:
Participate in safety programs, maintain a clean and safe workplace, manage supply inventory, and properly dispose of expired/contaminated items.

Professional Development:
Maintain annual competencies, continuing education units, hospital-required certifications, health screenings, and attend safety-related lectures/discussions.

Communication:
Collaborate with providers, nurses, and staff on patient care and operational issues.

Practice Guidelines:
Function within state’s scope of practice for the vocation the employee maintains current.
** Education
* * Completion of an accredited allied health program is preferred, i.e. Medical or nurse aid assistant, respiratory therapist, licensed practical nurse.

Completion of a formal hyperbaric medicine training program is required.
** Experience
* * Working knowledge of all applicable hyperbaric safety codes and regulations that govern the operation of the hyperbaric medicine facility is required.

Working knowledge of decompression procedures is required.
** Certification & Licensure
** Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) or Certified Hyperbaric Specialist (CHS) by the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine (ACHM) is required.

Certified Hyperbaric & Wound Specialist by the American Board of Wound Healing (ABWH) is preferred.

BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved is required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
** Qualifications
* * Working knowledge of all applicable hyperbaric safety codes and regulations that govern the operation of the hyperbaric medicine facility is required.

Working knowledge of decompression procedures is required.

Complete hyperbaric medicine orientation with documented checklist is required.

A clear understanding of all clinical departmental policies, procedures, and protocols is required.

Ability to think critically is required.

Rapid decision-making during emergencies and adapting protocols to patient needs is required.

Ability to adhere to ethical standards, uphold patient confidentiality, and remain compliant with certification requirements.#
