Clinical Manager - Cardiac, Vascular, Thoracic Operating Room
The Clinical Manager, CVTOR will provide leadership and direction in accordance with organization and department standards. The Manager will perform direct patient care for CVTOR (Cardiac, Vascular, Thoracic), provide clinical and administrative leadership for CVTOR, including quality, financial vitality, and team member and customer satisfaction. The Clinical Manager will have direct oversight and 24-hour responsibility of the WMC CVTOR in maintaining appropriate clinical standards for best practice patient care.
The Clinical Manager will provide direction for Supervisors, Registered Nurses, Surgical Technologists, Anesthesia Technicians, and other job functions of the Main Operating Room.
Responsibilities and Duties
Develops vision and strategy to support growth and efficiency of CVTOR.
Supports program development to enhance surgical capabilities and new procedures.
Develop yearly goals and objectives in collaboration with director, employees, Surgical Services Service Line, Heart & Vascular Service Line, and physicians to meet performance metrics of department and organization.
Assist with preparing unit budget and capital budget requests.
Work with teams to establish policies and procedures, goals and objectives specific for CVTOR.
Work closely with the other Managers within Surgical Services to provide continuity of care to all patients and identify cost saving/process improvement opportunities.
Oversight for meeting compliance and regulatory standards of all surgical services.
Creates and advances a culture of high reliability and transparency.
Act as a liaison and subject matter expert between department, Surgical Services Service Line, Heart and Vascular Service Line and executive leadership team.
Partner with Director to provide reporting of KPI’s to multiple levels of leadership.
Participate in decision making at multiple levels of leadership via committees.
Partner with Director to develop staffing grid and recruiting/retention plan for operations and maintaining high quality care.
Ensures engaged CVTOR team.
Responsible for overall patient engagement within CVTOR.
Participates in appropriate surgical committees across the organization.
Establishes performance standards in collaboration with leadership and medical staff to drive efficiency and performance of services.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) is required.
Master's degree in nursing (MSN) is preferred.
Experience
Five years of progressive cardiac, vascular, thoracic operating room experience is required.
Minimum one year in a leadership or Charge RN position is required.
Certification & Licensure
Registered Nurse in Virginia or multi-state compact RN license is required.
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved is required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Certified Peri-Operative Registered Nurse (CNOR) is required within (2) years of hire.
