The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor supervises receiving, warehousing and shipping of products to meet company service and cost objectives.
Associates are expected to meet objectives in performance, safety and quality, and comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies.
- Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities and ensure continuous improvement.
- Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues.
- Develop and enforce systems and procedures for safe, profitable operations in accordance with company policies.
- Implement and report on cost‑saving measures and propose operational efficiencies.
- Meet all client‑specified KPIs and quality system requirements.
- Manage operations to achieve prescribed objectives, using sound communication and motivational techniques.
- Assist in hiring, training, and professional development programs and participate in performance evaluation.
- Take overall training and evaluation responsibilities for warehouse staff.
- Plan daily work schedules based on work orders, arrival notices and customer instructions, prioritizing time‑sensitive tasks.
- Review pending jobs, reorganize warehouse space, and adjust staffing or equipment levels as needed.
- Train new staff or delegate training to experienced team members and assess progress.
- Monitor job quantity and quality throughout the day, providing guidance and advice.
- Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members and keep manager informed of progress.
- Hold regular meetings with staff to assess status, discuss improvement ideas, and keep them informed of developments.
- Assist in physical operations as needed.
- Deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time.
- Maintain high motivation and focus on customer satisfaction.
- Provide ongoing growth opportunities and conduct annual performance reviews.
- Support and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3 years’ experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment.
- 1 year supervisory experience.
- Preferred: MHE certification or basic MHE operation knowledge.
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with RF scanners and WMS functions.
- English (reading, writing, verbal).
- Business communication.
- Basic to intermediate level for verifying quantities, inventory counts, and other required calculations.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and timely task completion.
- Good organizational and personnel skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Strong leadership, supervision and planning skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.
- Participate in cross‑training and be able to back‑up other departments as needed.
- Adapt quickly to change and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
- Work overtime when required.
- Work in temperature‑controlled warehouse environments ranging from mild to moderate.
For this position, the expected base pay range is $68,000.00 – $75,000.00 semimonthly. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
