Position: Registered Nurse - PACU - Full time - Dayshift

Job Title:

Registered Nurse II – POST ANESTHESIA CARE

Responsibilities
  • Utilize the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management
  • Communicate quality information, collaborate with teamwork, and demonstrate leadership and professionalism
  • Direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards
  • Coordinate care of the assigned patient population
  • Maintain and update the professional practice ladder portfolio; submit annually by March1
  • Assume charge nurse responsibilities as assigned
  • Participate in PI activities and department initiatives; communicate with Director/Designee and co‑workers
  • Participate in peer review; develop educational bulletin board or poster for staff, patients, and family members
  • Solicit and validate patient/family satisfaction
Qualifications & Licensure
  • Registered nurse (RN) license required (Virginia or West Virginia). Eligible to practice under NLC or a state license.
  • BLS certification (American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ – AHA approved) required before orientation.
  • Preferred specialty certification.
  • Education:

    RN Diploma, ASN or ADN required; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum 1,872 full‑time or part‑time hours of RN experience (936 hours if holding a BSN) and completion of a performance evaluation.
  • Competent in providing care based on developmental stages (cognitive, physical, emotional).
  • Competent in using the nursing process.
  • Must have a reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
