Job Description
A Medical Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN) provides direct patient care to medically complex patients, including those requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. They assess, plan, and implement patient care, administer medications, monitor vital signs and telemetry data, and educate patients and families.
Perm Placement: RN Med Surg/Tele (Nights)The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process: including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. She/he is also responsible for quality communication, teamwork and leadership/professionalism. The RN directs, coordinates, and implements patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
A Registered Nurse II (RN 11) is responsible for the care of the population they are assigned. The RN II is required to complete yearly mandatory competencies, any unit-specific competencies identified by the Director/Designee for the patient population of their unit, and the Professional Practice Ladder requirements which include: assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, participating in activity and department initiatives, communicating and sharing information with the Director/Designee and co-workers from unit or hospital committee, a Valley Health paid Educational/Seminar/Conference workshop or Nursing Article.
The portfolio is current and submitted to the Director/Designee annually by March 1st. The RN regularly solicits and validates patient/family satisfaction, participates in peer review for unit, and develops a bulletin board or poster that provides educational information to staff/patients/families.
Educational, certification and/or licensure requirements - (see below)
- Associates in Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN or AND) required.
- Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Certification & Licensures
RN license or eligible for licensure in Virginia.
