Position Overview

Department: MEDICAL ONCOLOGY – 206026 Worker Sub Type Per Diem Work Shift Pay Grade 135. Role:
Registered Nurse Per Diem (RN PD).

Responsibilities
  • Carry out the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management.
  • Communicate effectively, collaborate in teamwork and demonstrate leadership/professionalism.
  • Direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining nursing standards.
  • Provide nursing care for the population assigned to the RN PD.
  • Complete yearly mandatory competencies and unit‑specific competencies as identified by the Director/Designee.
  • Fulfill Professional Practice Ladder responsibilities, including Charge Nurse duties, program improvement activities and department initiatives.
  • Provide annual portfolio and participate in peer review and patient/family satisfaction activities.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse License in Virginia (multi‑state or single‑state) and active RN license or eligibility to practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) approved program, obtained prior to orientation.
  • Minimum two years of RN experience.
  • Education:

    Nursing associate degree (RN Diploma, ASN or ADN) required;
    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Relevant specialty certification preferred.
  • Reliable phone communication with hospital.
  • Eligibility to test letter or interim verification if necessary for “RNA” or “RN I” positions.
