Job Description
The Surgical Services Supervisor is a perioperative RN responsible for coordinating daily operations across surgical services, with primary focus on pre-operative, procedural, and post-anesthesia care areas. This role oversees staff assignments, ensures appropriate resource availability, and supports staff orientation, competency, and ongoing development.
Responsibilities include providing clinical guidance, mentoring team members, and utilizing resources to promote safe, high-quality patient care. The Supervisor balances hands-on clinical support with administrative oversight, including staff supervision, performance management, and participation in planning and operational initiatives.
The role collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient flow, address day-to-day operational needs, and support efficient scheduling and care delivery. The Supervisor is expected to model professional leadership behaviors and drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Education
Bachelors Nursing (BSN) required.
Experience
Minimum one year experience in a leadership role preferred.
Four years operating room experience preferred.
Certification & Licensures
Registered Nurse in Virginia or multi-state compact RN license required.
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart 'Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA approved required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Certified Perioperative Registered Nurse (CNOR) preferred.
