Registered Nurse - PACU Day Shift

Department POST ANESTHESIA CARE - 206218 Worker Sub Type Regular Work Shift First Shift (United States of America) Pay Range $34.00 - $48.87

The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process: including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management. They are responsible for quality communication, teamwork and leadership/professionalism. The RN also directs, coordinates and implements patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

A Registered Nurse II (RNII) is responsible for the care of the population they are assigned.

• Must complete yearly mandatory competencies and any unit‑specific competencies identified by the Director/Designee as they relate to the patient population of their unit.
• Must complete the Professional Practice Ladder requirements, including: assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, performing PI activities and department initiatives, communicating and sharing information with the Director/Designee and co‑workers from unit or hospital committee, and attending a Valley Health‑paid Education/Seminar/Conference workshop or nursing article.
• A current portfolio must be submitted to the Director/Designee annually by March

Routinely solicits and validates patient/family satisfaction, participates in peer review for the unit and develops a bulletin board or poster that provides educational information to staff, patients and family members.

Education:

Must hold an RN Diploma, ASN or ADN. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Experience:

Must have a minimum of 1,872 full‑time or part‑time hours (936 hours if holding a BSN) of RN experience and a completed performance evaluation.

RN license required. Licensed or eligible to practice in Virginia and/or West Virginia, either through a multistate license under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) or a single‑state license valid in Virginia or West Virginia.

BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) – AHA approved required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation. Relevant specialty certification is preferred.

Meets all requirements of an RNI. Competent to provide care based on the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development. Competent to provide care using the nursing process. Must have a reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
