Department: LABOR & DELIVERY – 206190 Worker Sub Type Regular Work Shift Pay Range $34.00 – $48.87
Job OverviewThe registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management. They are responsible for quality communication, teamwork and leadership/professionalism. The RN also directs, coordinates and implements patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Responsibilities- Provide care of the population assigned.
- Complete yearly mandatory competencies, unit‑specific competencies as identified by the Director/Designee, and Professional Practice Ladder requirements.
- Assume responsibility as Charge Nurse and lead PI Activities and department initiatives.
- Communicate and share information with the Director/Designee and co‑workers from unit or hospital committees, education workshops, seminars, conferences, or nursing articles.
- Maintain an annual portfolio current and submitted to Director/Designee by March 1.
- Solicit and validate patient/family satisfaction; participate in peer review; develop educational bulletin boards or posters for staff, patients and families.
- Education:
Registered Nursing Diploma (RN), Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) required;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. - Experience:
Minimum 1,872 full‑time equivalent hours (or 936 if holding a BSN) of RN experience and completion of a performance evaluation. - Certification & Licensure:
Current RN license in Virginia and/or West Virginia; eligible for practice pending licensure; BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider required before orientation. - Preferable:
Relevant specialty certification. - Competent to provide care based on the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development; use the nursing process.
