- Utilize job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management.
- Provide quality communication, teamwork and leadership/professionalism.
- Direct, coordinate and implement patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel.
- Maintain standards of professional nursing.
- Provide care for the assigned patient population.
- Complete yearly mandatory competencies and unit-specific competencies.
- Complete Professional Practice Ladder requirements, including assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, PI activity and department initiatives.
- Communicate and share information with the Director/Designee and co-workers from unit or hospital committees, Valley Health-paid education/seminar/conference workshops, or nursing articles.
- Maintain and submit a current portfolio to the Director/Designee annually by March 1.
- Solicit and validate patient/family satisfaction.
- Participate in peer review for the unit.
- Develop bulletin boards or posters providing educational information to staff, patients and family members.
- Associates Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN or ADN) is required.
- RN License is required.
- Must be licensed or eligible to practice pending licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia with either a Multi-state license under the Nurse Licensure Compact or a Single-state license valid in Virginia only.
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (HCP), AHA approved, is required.
- New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
- Advancement to this level requires a minimum of 1872 full-time or part-time hours of RN experience (936 if holding a BSN) and completion of a performance evaluation.
- Meets all requirements of a RN I.
- Competent to provide care based on the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development.
- Competent to provide care using the nursing process.
- Must have a reliable means of phone communication with hospital.
- Bachelors Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Relevant Specialty Certification is preferred.
Demonstrates proficiency in the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, and evaluation, while maintaining high standards of professional nursing. Effectively communicates and collaborates with healthcare teams to enhance patient care and satisfaction.
