Primary
Purpose:
Handle and possess knowledge of all deli products. Process, prepare, wrap, slice, weigh, mark, package, and stock shelves, cases, and bins while maintaining neat and attractive conditions and properly displayed products.
- Provide quality customer service to consumers, co‑workers, vendors, and business associates.
- Receive, process, prepare, wrap, slice, weigh, mark, and package deli products.
- Maintain proper shelf, case, and display conditions, including stocking, cleaning, straightening, and rotating product (typically ≤30 lbs
). - Maintain proper cooler conditions, coding, rotating, and organizing cases of product (frequently >20 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs) and cleaning.
- Keep prep area conditions clean and sanitized, including work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations applicable to the deli area.
- Maintain a safe, clean sales floor through sweeping and mopping.
- Provide friendly, courteous customer service, answer questions, make recommendations, and promote products through suggestive selling.
- Dress according to company policy and maintain a neat, clean appearance at all times.
- Complete ELM training courses as added to the learning page.
- Report all accidents and file incident reports to the supervisor within 24 hours.
- Collect first aid kit for all injuries; follow instructions and ask questions when in doubt.
- Report unsafe conditions and wear required PPE, including cut‑resistant gloves when working with knives or blades.
- Demonstrate proper food safety and sanitation work habits.
- Use proper lifting procedures and keep floors and work areas clear and clean.
- Never leave running machinery unattended; the shop is smoke free. Smoke must be in designated areas.
- Understand company policy and procedures as promulgated in the policy and procedure manual and the employee manual.
- Know MSDS information for all materials used.
- Complete Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Right to Know training.
- Report accidents and incidents within 24 hours.
- Report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- No horseplay, running, or unsafe actions on premises.
- Know emergency evacuation routes, exits, and alarms.
- Follow company policy on apparel and footwear.
- Must wear PPE where required.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Can communicate and understand company policies and safety regulations.
- Meet ergonomic and physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Able to use or learn to use equipment and tools required for the job.
- Shift hours: minimum 4‑hour shifts or more, depending on business needs.

- Temperatures range from freezer environments to backrooms that are not air‑conditioned.
