The Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center is looking for a Booking Technician to join our dedicated team. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to work in a secure facility, providing essential administrative support and interacting with inmates during booking and release processes. Working HoursThis position follows a 12-hour shift schedule from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM on a 2-2-3-day rotation.
As a Booking Technician, you will:- Review and process warrants and court documents related to the incarceration and release of individuals.
- Process individuals entering and leaving the facility in accordance with established procedures and automated systems.
- Inventory and document inmate property, money, and valuables; issue and retrieve facility property as required.
- Maintain accurate accountability and records of incarcerated individuals throughout the intake and release process.
- Use VCIN/NCIC to verify criminal history and current warrants.
- Conduct initial medical screenings and administer required alcohol and drug testing.
- Complete fingerprinting, photographs, iris scans, and other identification procedures.
- Review DCJS requirements and coordinate DNA collection when required.
- Prepare incident, observation, and institutional reports and maintain accurate records.
- Respond to public inquiries regarding incarcerated individuals and operate the facility’s automated Offender Management System.
- Must possess a high school or general education diploma.
- Entry-level position, but one (1) year of correctional experience is preferred.

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, maintain accurate records, and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines effectively. - Ability to operate computer terminals, VCIN/NCIC terminals, Live Scan, Identex, Fingerprint Identification, Signature Pad Equipment, and use the Adani Conpass full-body scanner.
1. Any conviction or plea of guilty or no contest to a felony or any offense that would be a felony if committed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
2. Any conviction of plea of guilty or no contest to any misdemeanor involving moral turpitude including but not limited to petit larceny under Section 18.2-96 of the Code of Virginia or any offense involving moral turpitude that would be a misdemeanor if committed in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Crimes of moral turpitude include but limited to: fraud, all theft offenses and perjury.
3. Any conviction or plea of guilty or no contest to any misdemeanor sex offense in the Commonwealth of Virginia, another state, or the United States, including but not limited to sexual battery under Section 18.2-67.4 of the Code Of Virginia or consensual sexual intercourse with a minor 15 or older under clause (ii) of Section 18.2-371 of the Code of Virginia, or domestic assault under Section 18.2-57.2 of the Code of Virginia or any offense that would be domestic assault under the laws of another state or the United States.
4. Any conviction that requires the registration in the Virginia Sex Offender Registry.
5. Undetected commission of any of the above crimes, as an adult.
Traffic Violations1. Has not held a valid driver’s license for a minimum of two (2) years.
2. Driver’s license suspended or revoked within three years of application.
3. Convicted within the past five years of any of the following:
