Primary Purpose

Perform installation, diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair of HVAC Building Automation and controls systems.

Specific

Job Duties
  • Possess extensive knowledge and experience with programming, troubleshooting, and repairing building automation and control systems.
  • Work with Honeywell WEBS, LON, BACnet, Tridium, and JCI Facility Explorer control systems.
  • Use analytical and problem‑solving skills to resolve engineering problems and interpret technical data.
  • Install Building Automation Systems from drawings, submittals, and specifications.
  • Work independently without direct supervision.
  • Maintain knowledge of HVAC mechanical equipment such as large split systems, chillers, boilers, VAVs, water‑source heat pumps, CW/HW pumps, and starters.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair pneumatic and electronic (DDC) HVAC system controls.
  • Diagnose, identify, and isolate problems during troubleshooting tasks.
  • Communicate system malfunctions to users and assist in isolating issues.
  • Determine appropriate actions for problem resolution.
  • Use TAB techniques for diagnostic duties and to perform repairs.
  • Inspect systems to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and to detect component malfunctions.
  • Study building system designs, as‑built blueprints, HVAC system diagrams, technical specifications, and system configurations.
  • Test component and system performance to determine necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Program, design, and modify HVAC subsystems of electronic building automation systems.
  • Consult with engineers and contractors regarding system operation and configuration.
  • Order materials, components, and equipment needed for efficient system operation.
  • Perform other related work as required to support general HVAC maintenance activities.
Other Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum four years of trade experience, including apprenticeship or vocational training, with HVAC service or maintenance.
  • Minimum two years of automated system controls‑related experience or equivalent formal training.
  • Knowledge of test and diagnostic equipment, instruments, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to read and analyze building blueprints, HVAC system diagrams, and specifications.
  • Tridium Niagara N4 certification is a plus.
  • Punctual and regular attendance.
  • Team‑player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication with engineers, craftsmen, contractors, vendors, and system users.
  • Valid driver’s license and compliance with the company driver qualification policy.
  • Adherence to all company safety requirements and processes.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours as needed.
