Job Goal:
Ensure student academic progress, graduation, and post-secondary success at Foothills through intensive support, collaboration, and resource connection. Focus on building strong professional relationships with students and families to overcome academic and personal barriers.
Core Responsibilities:
- Student/Family Engagement: Establish supportive relationships; meet regularly with a caseload of students (weekly) and their families (monthly) to set goals and review progress. Act as a liaison, assisting with orientation, home visits, and re-engaging dropped students. Facilitate student-led parent conferences (once per semester).
- Academic & Post-Secondary Planning: Collaborate on tailored graduation plans using career interest and aptitude inventory results. Advise on Georgia Graduation Requirements, Dual Enrollment (DE), Accelerated Career Diploma (ACD), and work-based learning opportunities. Coordinate relevant testing (SAT, ACT, ACCUPLACER) and monitor college grades for DE/ACD students. Support employability skills development.
- Data, Communication, & Compliance: Document all communication in Infinite Campus. Utilize data platforms (dashboard, Canvas) for monitoring. Utilize Foothills communication tools when interacting with students and families. Serve as a safety net by connecting students with appropriate staff (counselors, social workers) for concerns/referrals. Participate in mandatory site and regional meetings.
- Special Education (SWD): Develop, write, and maintain compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); schedule and facilitate IEP meetings.
- ESOL: Collaborate with Virtual ESOL teachers to ensure English Language Learner (ELL) engagement.
- Program and Transfer Credit Students: Monitor progress, prepare bi-weekly updates for resident districts, and coordinate student compliance with district requirements.
