ESS Permanent SPED Paraprofessional

An ESS paraprofessional assists the classroom teacher to provide extra support to students with special needs, promoting maximum academic and personal growth. The paraprofessional job responsibilities range from supplementing regular classroom curriculum to helping individual students.

• Follow all county, state, and federal policies and procedures.
• Monitor and supervise students and provide academic, emotional, and physical support as necessary.
• Assist with preparation of materials for instruction, including the copying/duplicating of materials, construction of display/bulletin boards, learning centers, and manipulatives.
• Perform necessary clerical tasks as required.
• Assist with special activities such as toileting, diapering, food preparation, feeding, and other delegated procedures and medical procedures as directed.
• Participate in lesson planning sessions and communicate with parents and school officials as directed and required.
• Assist with all transitions and student loading and unloading, as directed.
• Maintain the integrity of confidential information related to students and staff.
• Monitor the classroom and students during the teacher’s participation in IEP meetings or other activities/planning which require the teacher to be out of the room.
• Consistently maintain and provide exceptional customer service and professional practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or state‑approved High School Equivalency (HSE), required.
• Minimum of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of college credit above the remedial level from a GaPSC‑accepted accredited institution with a grade of “C” or higher.

Georgia Paraprofessional License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).

• Pay based on experience. Starting rate $22,172.26.
