Note:

This position requires a minimum of an Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or a closely related field.

The Head Start Lead Teacher facilitates quality, individualized early childhood education by implementing developmentally appropriate practices in an inclusive environment.

Under the direct supervision of the Center Manager, the Lead Teacher works as part of a team with Education/Disabilities Specialists to plan and implement a variety of developmentally appropriate activities for children that enhance growth and development, promote social competence, and ensure parental involvement in all aspects of the program.

• Possess knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to perform assigned functions responsibly.
• Understand and respect the ethnic background and culture of program families, and be able to serve and effectively communicate with children and families with limited or no English proficiency when feasible.
• Have training, experiences, and knowledge that include theories and principles of child growth and development, early childhood education, and family support.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills.
• Provide leadership and stability for program continuity.
• Be capable of moving or lifting children up to age five.

Minimum Qualifications – Head Start Lead Teacher

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must pass a drug test.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must pass pre‑employment tests if applicable.
• Hold a current Georgia PDS profile with credentials and career level listed. Candidates should upload their current GA PDS profile and resume to the online application.
• Have an Associate's, Bachelor's, or higher degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or a closely related field.

On occasion, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
