Job Description
Step into a rewarding role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a K-1 self-contained classroom setting. In this full-time contract position, you'll work alongside two dedicated paraprofessionals and support a diverse group of kindergarten and first-grade students with developmental delays. Your classroom will include children with both general and adapted curriculum needs, offering you the opportunity to utilize your broad certification and expertise in special education.
Key
Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia Special Education Adapted Curriculum Certification
- Certification in all academic content areas:
Reading, Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies - Experience crafting and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Proficiency in behavior intervention and positive classroom management techniques
- Ability to differentiate instruction for both general and adapted curriculum students
- Three reference checks required, including one from a recent supervisor (principal, AP, coordinator, etc.)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver IEP goals, tailoring accommodations to each student’s strengths and needs
- Implement and document effective behavioral supports and interventions
- Work collaboratively with school administrators, related services, families, and classroom support staff
- Track and report student progress while ensuring compliance with all required documentation
- Foster a safe and structured environment that encourages academic and social growth
- Adapt teaching strategies and materials across multiple subject areas for personalized learning
