Responsibilities Environmental Compliance & Regulatory ManagementProvide accurate, timely, and cost‑effective environmental and regulatory compliance support to plant operations. Interpret environmental regulations and provide technical guidance to site leadership and operational teams. Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies and represent the company during inspections, audits, and compliance matters, including:
- Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Air Permits, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management
- Health Department Radioactive Device Licensing and Inspection Records
- Local Municipal Authorities Wastewater Discharge Permits
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SPCC, SWPPP, GHG, RICE, CFC/HCFC Recycling, TRI Programs, and EPCRA
Receive, review, and respond to agency communications regarding permits, compliance activities, and environmental programs. Ensure all required environmental permits remain current and in‑compliance with regulatory requirements.
Air Compliance Programs- Maintain environmental programs that ensure compliance with all air permit requirements.
- Monitor the NESHAP Monitoring System daily and investigate alarm conditions.
- Evaluate alarms to determine potential permit deviations and communicate findings to plant leadership.
- Conduct root cause analyses for permit deviations and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain and update Operation, Maintenance, and Monitoring (OMM) Plans and Startup, Shutdown, and Malfunction Plans (SSMP) as required.
- Develop, revise, and review environmental procedures that support regulatory compliance.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve air compliance monitoring and reporting systems, including NESHAP Monitoring System & I‑Fix.
- Promote awareness of environmental risks and compliance obligations among employees and the surrounding community.
- Ensure industrial wastewater discharges comply with permit requirements and discharge limits.
- Utilize plant data acquisition and monitoring systems (e.g., Eurotherm or equivalent) to collect, track, analyze, and report wastewater discharge data.
- Investigate wastewater discharge excursions and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Manage and oversee wastewater sampling activities conducted by qualified vendors.
- Prepare and submit monthly wastewater reports.
- Communicate operational changes affecting industrial wastewater discharges to regulatory authorities.
- Protect groundwater and surface water resources through effective management of process and wastewater streams.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly inspections under the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
- Report findings and recommendations from inspections and track corrective actions to completion.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of universal and hazardous waste.
- Perform weekly inspections and inventory reviews of hazardous and universal waste storage areas.
- Manage waste streams and maintain required waste profiles, manifests, and environmental records.
- Lead site initiatives focused on waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and minimizing environmental impacts.
- Coordinate site‑wide environmental audits and compliance assessments.
- Analyze audit findings and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver environmental compliance training programs for employees.
- Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
- Maintain qualifications and training for personnel involved in:
- Water sampling and testing
- Environmental abatement systems
- Emergency response activities
- Hazardous material and waste handling
- Develop, review, and update environmental compliance procedures and written programs.
- Monitor and mitigate chemical, physical, and biological hazards that may impact employees or the environment.
