Police Officer
The Police Officer Recruit will report to the Police Corporal/Sergeant or through the Chain of Command of the Chief of Police.
The Police Recruit is a trainee class position designated to prepare an incumbent towards a career with the Police Department. An employee in this class receives academy instruction and field training in the areas of patrol methods, causes of criminality, courtroom procedures, fingerprinting, community relations, and other law enforcement topics to prepare for appointment to the position of Police Officer. Upon successful completion of academy instruction, the incumbent receives further training in the Field Officer Training Program.
Licenses and Certifications
Required:
- Possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License
Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- Never been convicted of a felony
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Must meet/pass department's psychological and background requirements
- Must maintain the department's firearms qualification standards
- Must pass an annual fit for duty physical and/or physical abilities test
- Work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required
- Must pass a credit check

- $500/month housing stipend to officers living inside city limits of Winder
- Up to $1500 reimbursement of relocation expenses to officers to move into city limits of Winder
