This position is responsible for developing and overseeing athletic programs.
- Directs the coordination and scheduling of facilities and personnel for programs; prepares facilities for activities, programs, and events.
- Plans, develops and supervises athletic programs and tournaments for youth and adults.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment for programs and events; oversees the purchasing of supplies and equipment; oversees the bid process for recreation purchases; researches and obtains product information from vendors; recommend purchasing alternatives.
- Prepares annual budget proposals and administers approved funds.
- Assists with the management of the daily operations of the facility; enforces facility rules and regulations.
- Coordinates program publicity and promotional information.
- Serves as liaison to user groups and outside agencies.
- Maintains professional affiliations and certifications; attends workshops and required training.
- Provides training and supervision to assigned personnel.
- Ensures adequate staffing for programs and events.
- Develops and implements program and facility policies and procedures.
- Oversees center schedules.
- Ensures employee adherence to safety policies and procedures and department guidelines.
- Assesses community needs and interests in support of the development of new programs.
- Performs related duties as required.
- High school diploma or GED;
Bachelor's in Recreation Administration, Sports Management, or closely related field preferred; - 3-5 years of experience in Recreation or related field;
- Valid Driver's License
- Or an equivalent training, education, and/or experience to sufficiently perform the function of the job.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of recreation administration.
- Knowledge of the rules, equipment, and facilities requirements for a variety of sports and games.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, department policies and procedures, and program objectives.
- Knowledge of the rules of a variety of sports.
- Knowledge of sports field and building maintenance techniques.
- Knowledge of scheduling methods for various recreational activities.
- Skill in maintaining accurate records.
- Skill in planning and coordinating large groups to ensure the availability of facilities, supplies, and volunteers for athletic events.
- Skill in the supervision of youth.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes a sense of smell.
