Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, we proudly offer two distinct luxury establishments situated on separate estates, yet operated seamlessly as one cohesive team. Whether you opt for the laid-back ambiance of Gilpin Hotel or the distinct combination of hotel and country house at Gilpin Lake House, your experience with us is designed to be effortlessly harmonious.

Gilpin Hotel & Lake House are part of the prestigious Pride of Britain Hotels and we are proud to be one of the 580 members of Relais & Châteaux, an association of worldwide independent hotel and restaurant owners.

Step into a role that moves gracefully across the whole Gilpin estate - supporting housekeeping, food and beverage, hosting, and guest experience wherever the rhythm of the day requires. As a Hotel Assistant, you’ll help shape the calm, intuitive atmosphere that defines Gilpin Hotel and Lake House: warm, thoughtful, and quietly exceptional. Every interaction should feel personal, every space beautifully prepared, every moment seamlessly delivered.

Your

Role as Hotel Assistant:
  • Coordinates and assists with the day’s rhythm across both properties, adapting to breakfast service, housekeeping movement, guest hosting, afternoon tea, spa schedules, and evening turndown. Ensure transitions are smooth and surroundings serene.
  • Carries out room resets, deep cleans, amenity replenishment, and public‑area presentation. Maintains immaculate standards that reflect Gilpin’s quiet‑luxury promise.
  • Supports food and beverage service across breakfast, afternoon tea, and private dining. Delivers warm, attentive service with confidence and charm.
  • Welcomes guests, guides arrivals, supports check‑ins, and offers thoughtful hosting throughout the stay. Anticipates needs, resolves issues discreetly, and creates a sense of genuine care.
  • Works closely with Housekeeping, Spa, Estates, and Front Office teams to uphold consistency, calm, and order across both the Gilpin Hotel and Lake House.
  • Assists with private events, celebrations, and exclusives, ensuring beautifully executed occasions with seamless coordination and heartfelt service.
  • Upholds Gilpin’s signature values of privacy, tranquillity, and understated elegance. Elevates the guest experience through thoughtful touches and impeccable presentation.
What You Bring:
  • A natural flair for hosting and genuine passion for creating memorable guest journeys.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and pride in presentation.
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a close‑knit team.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and a calm, professional presence.
  • Previous hospitality experience preferred - but personality, warmth, and attitude matter just as much.

This is a true all‑rounder role: housekeeping, waiting‑on, hosting, reception support, events, and everything in between. You’ll thrive if you love variety, service, and the satisfaction of making every guest feel at home.

What We Offer:
  • The chance to work alongside a team of passionate professionals.
  • A supportive, dynamic and creative environment.
  • Opportunities for growth and development within the Gilpin family.
  • Meals on shift, uniform, and generous gratuities.
  • A stunning Lake District setting that inspires every day.
  • The pride of contributing to a property recognised with 5 AA Red Stars, and two Michelin Keys.
  • The prestige of working within Relais & Châteaux and Pride of Britain Hotels.
  • You will become part of the Relais & Châteaux community, a global association of 580 exceptional hotels and restaurants united by a passion for the profession, the authenticity of human relations and the promotion of local traditions.
