Day Kimball Health is hiring for an Administrative Assistant to join our WIC (Women, Infants, & Children) department in Willimantic, CT!

Weekends: 6 Saturdays per year
Requirement: Bilingual (Spanish) required. Previous secretarial or clerical experience preferred.

Job Summary:
As the Administrative Assistant, you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for assisting in the general operation of the Women, Infants and Children program.
Administrative AssistantEssential Responsibilities:
Assist in the certification of WIC applicants by performing the following activities:
- Interview applicants to obtain basic demographic data, such as name, address, and contact information
- Verify identity, residency, and income eligibility by reviewing required documentation
- Enter all data into the Statewide WIC database
- Follow up on phone calls for missed appointments
- Answer WIC phone calls and handle requests for general information, appointment rescheduling, lost WIC benefits, and other inquiries as assigned by the Site Nutritionist or Supervisor
- Complete necessary paperwork, including maintaining participant files and ensuring accurate documentation
Education and Experience Requirements:
- At least 1 year experience in a medical office or social service agency setting.
- Ability to be empathetic yet firm with client
- Ability to carry heavy objects to offsite clinics weekly
- Ability to drive and with access to a car to drive to classes, clinics, and meetings
- Knowledge of basic computer operations
- Ability to maintain effective working relationship with supervisor, co-workers and participants
- Skill in identifying problems and planning their solutions
