POSITION SUMMARY

Oversees and coordinates all facets of Study Abroad, Global Field Study, and National Student Exchange programs. Serves as the liaison to overseas partners and third-party service providers to facilitate the full range of student mobility activities. Works with international exchange students regarding adaptation process. Serves as the university's Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the U.S. Student and Exchange Visitor Program. Supports multicultural programming for ECSU students, faculty, administration, and other constituencies.

May supervise professional and/or support staff.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

* Administers the university's short-term, faculty-led Global Field Course Programs including preparation of print- and web-based marketing materials, itinerary and budget development, development and delivery of pre-departure orientations for faculty and students, program implementation and assessment. Monitors and approves Global Field Course expenditures within budgetary limits.

* Collaborates with faculty and administrators to identify and sustain a set of exchange partners that supports the university's international educational agenda. Markets and recruits for the university's overseas study programs.

* Serves as the Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), as well as assists the Responsible Officer (RO) in counseling and advising all international students, faculty, and visiting scholars in U.S. immigration regulations. Initiates DS-2019 forms for incoming international exchange students.

* Assists in the initiation, documentation, and implementation of overseas partnership programs for the university. Assists the Director in preparing partnership agreements and supports applicable approval, renewal, and cancellation processes.

* Facilitates admission, course enrollment and credit transfer for all incoming and outgoing study abroad participants.

* Assists students with preparation for study abroad and National Student Exchange semesters including transfer course selection, financial aid navigation, insurance coverage, visa application process, and travel arrangements.

* Designs and executes orientation and reentry programs for international and study abroad students. Develops and administers programs designed to increase cross-cultural sensitivity and understanding among students.

* Monitors State Department travel advisories and consults with the campus leadership for guidance to ensure prudent decision-making regarding international travel by faculty, staff, and students.

* Assists with the development of campus and community awareness and support of internationalizing the campus.

* Collects data, maintains computerized databases of student and program files, and prepares routine and annual governmental reports. Manages the program website.

* Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS. AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated knowledge and ability of applying best practices in international education programming; demonstrated knowledge of foreign cultures and multicultural education. Knowledge of and ability to apply federal, state, and international laws and regulations as well as university and BOR/CSCU policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability in the use of databases, desktop publishing and enterprise management software such as Banner. Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.

Excellent financial, organizational and communication skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Typically performs work indoors, on campus, and in person. May be required to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Four (4) years of experience administering study abroad programs; significant international experience of studying or working abroad.
