Department of Health Sciences and Nursing Eastern Connecticut State University invites applications for a non‑tenure track full‑time Assistant Professor position to begin August 2026. This position supports Eastern’s growing direct‑entry baccalaureate nursing program within the Department of Health Sciences and Nursing. Eastern is Connecticut’s only public liberal arts university, located in Willimantic, CT, approximately 1.5 hours from Boston and 2 hours from New York City, and is part of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) system.
We are seeking enthusiastic, caring, student‑centered nursing educators committed to the growth and development of the nursing program. The successful candidate will provide nursing education that bridges the academic‑clinical practice gap through innovation and best practices in nursing education and clinical excellence. Our mission is to prepare dedicated, ethical, accountable, and diverse healthcare professionals through a liberal arts framework.
Brief Description of Duties/ResponsibilitiesAbility to teach across the curriculum with specialization preferences in maternity, pediatric, geriatric, and psychiatric care nursing. Additional course needs include Introduction to Nursing Practice, and Fundamentals of Nursing. Faculty are assigned a 12‑credit hour load (four courses) each semester. In addition to classroom/lab teaching responsibilities, faculty are expected to engage in academic advising and service to the department.
Minimum QualificationsMaster’s degree in nursing (MSN) and State of Connecticut RN license (or eligible). A record of effective teaching of university‑level nursing courses.
Preferred QualificationsThe successful candidate will demonstrate effectiveness in working with diverse populations. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience at the baccalaureate or graduate level; 3‑5 years of relevant clinical practice as an RN or APRN; professional certification; doctoral degree in nursing (Ph.D., Ed.D., DNE, or DNP).
Clinical Agency RequirementsCandidates must meet all clinical agency requirements, including documentation of immunizations (MMR, Hepatitis
B), TB screening, and current CPR certification at the time of employment.
The non‑tenure track full‑time Assistant Professor of Nursing is compensated at the Assistant Professor salary level in accordance with Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (CSU‑AAUP) Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement.
