Workplace Readiness Instructor
The Workplace Readiness Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in foundational construction skills based on the NCCER Core curriculum. This includes safety, construction math, hand and power tools, construction drawings, and basic employability skills. The instructor prepares students for entry-level positions in the construction industry by combining classroom instruction with hands-on training.
Key Responsibilities• Teach NCCER Core curriculum in alignment with established standards
• Demonstrate proper use of tools, equipment, and safety procedures
• Assess student performance through online tests and practical evaluations
• Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with NCCER requirements
• Foster a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
• Provide mentorship and career guidance to students
Qualifications• NCCER Instructor Certification (or ability to obtain)
• Industry experience in construction or a related field
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards required
• Experience teaching in an adult education or workforce development setting preferred
• Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teaching Certificate/License in Construction Trades or Construction Technology (or ability to obtain) preferred
Work EnvironmentClassroom and lab/shop setting with hands-on training components.
DurationApproximately 66 days per year, 3 hours per day. Schedule to be determined upon hire. Benefits are limited to pro-rated sick leave.
