Seeking a part-time SUBSTITUTE teacher (5-10 hours per week, 40 hours on occasion) to begin ASAP. If a good fit, there may be room to expand hours and become a permanent part of our staff. Our team is down-to-earth and collaborative. We strive to create a supportive environment for all of our employees where their voices are heard, and family is able to come first.

Once registered within Maine Roads to Quality, you will be eligible for a monthly Salary Supplement between $280-$540. You must work at least one hour per month in childcare to receive the supplement.

Job Description
- Substitute Teachers will provide excellent care for all children. Assist or independently implement daily activities and daily routines with teacher and/or director input. Maintain all certifications as required. Ensure compliance with all Maine Department of Health and Human Services rules and regulations.

Required Qualifications:

At least 18 years of age:
On their way to a High school diploma or equivalent. Two years experience working with school-age children in a home or center setting;
Already has an Adult and Child CPR/First Aid Training Certificate which includes an in-person assessment. They must have basic knowledge of safety and care practices for children birth to five and experience working with school-age children in a home or center setting.

Training Requirements:
  • Adult and Child CPR/First Aid Training Certificate, including an in-person assessment.
  • Complete the background check process:
    All childcare providers in Maine must request that all their employees have a background check.
  • Complete a department-approved mandated reporter training.
  • Employee discount
    - As part of our gratefulness for your hard work and loyalty to our company, SSEC staff member’s children who are ages 3-12 may participate in any of our programs at a reduced rate as long as there is adequate room in the program, the waiting list isn’t extensive, their attendance will not create an unnecessary distraction to the employee, and the needs of the child(ren) does not require a fundamental alteration of the program or extensive services/auxiliary aides that overtax our current staff and resources.

Office Hours
8:30 to 5:00 Monday - Thursday
8:30 to 4:00 Friday
