• Teaches challenging and differentiated content and skills in English Language Arts to students in grades 6, 7, and 8 who have been identified as gifted/talented in ELA.
• Teaches and encourages students to think independently and creatively.
• Supports the social and emotional health of gifted students.
• Models intellectual curiosity and high aspirations.
• Communicates regularly with parents/guardians on curriculum, progress, conduct, and social/emotional health.
• Seeks out and requisitions materials appropriate to student interest and ability; maintains inventory controls.
• Participates in curriculum development with WMS staff and gifted teachers at WPS and Manchester.
• Oversees the annual Gifted/Talented selection process.
• Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities.

• Must hold Maine Teacher Certificate and be Highly Qualified in English Language Arts with a K-12 gifted endorsement (690) preferred. Must also hold an approved Maine CHRC at time of hire.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
