Skills:
The ability to create and maintain positive relations with students, school personnel, parents, and citizens, and to collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to maintain high quality of services.
- Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time.
- Teaches knowledge and skills in health education utilizing the course of study adopted by the School Board, and other appropriate learning activities.
- Teaches an understanding of the relationship of good body function and exercise; cultivates physical fitness, hygienic habits, and good social and emotional adjustment.
- Provides for safe storage and maintains control and use of school-owned property.
- Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
- Uses technology effectively.
- Administers District and State assessments in accordance with testing policies.
- Analyzes and uses data to inform instruction.
- Evaluates each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings and prepares progress reports and grade report.
- Communicates regularly with parents on student progress.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment.
- Selects and requisitions instructional materials and maintains required inventory records.
- Maintains professional competence through professional development activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participates in curriculum and other development programs within the school or on a District level.
- Performs other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Administration from time-to-time.
- The candidate must be able to build a yearly budget based upon the needs relative to all elements of the program.
- Must hold or be in the process of obtaining a current State of Maine certification with endorsement 520 and 510 preferred as well.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
