Day One Program Teacher at WHS

14 partners with Day One to provide regular education programming and special education services to female students who will be housed in the Day One residential program located in Windham. The ability to connect with students and serve as a liaison between students and staff is essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing instruction in regular education courses. Additional responsibilities include working with the WHS Site Coordinator to coordinate delivery of specially designed instruction in reading, writing, and math, and functional areas that include executive functioning skills and social skills as outlined in students' IEPs.

Responsibilities
  • Promote student learning and engagement by developing and delivering lessons based on appropriate instructional goals and ongoing assessments, while using a variety of instructional approaches and techniques in the least restrictive environment to meet the varied needs and learning styles of students.
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with families, colleagues, and students.
  • Promote positive student behavior by developing a culture of respect, active student investment and participation, and rapport in the classroom.
  • Have a reflective and open-minded mindset with a willingness to grow and develop professionally.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled department meetings as part of the Windham High School team.
  • Use ongoing assessments and data collection to refine academic and behavioral interventions, assess student growth in relation to goals, provide high-quality, informed instruction, and meaningful feedback to foster student learning.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned by the building administrator, director of student services, or superintendent.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree (Masters preferred);
    State of Maine certification in regular education high school content area is required. Additional certification 7-12 282 is a plus but not required. Must hold approved Maine State CHRC at time of hire.
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
