Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in a life skills program setting. You will create a safe and nurturing learning environment where students can develop essential skills for independent living, social interaction, and career readiness.

Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with PPT team.

* Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction in both a self-contained and inclusion-based classroom setting. Design and implement lessons focused on 16 core transition standards.

* Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate inclusive learning opportunities for students with disabilities.

* Use data to assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed.

* Conduct reevaluations to determine continued eligibility and inform the IEP.

* Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress.

* Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.

* Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and individual strengths.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field.

* CT special education teaching license (165).

* Experience working with middle school students with disabilities (Preferred).

* Strong understanding of modification and accommodations and best practices in supporting students with severe to profound disabilities.

* Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

* Culturally responsive teaching practices.

* Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
